Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
